How to Fix Architectury API Errors

Mods built on Architectury API won't load without it. How to read the Fabric Loader and NeoForge messages and match Architectury to your loader and version.

Quick Fix

Download Architectury API for your mod loader and exact Minecraft version from Modrinth or CurseForge, put it in the same mods folder and restart.

Error Message

Mod 'Example Mod' (examplemod) 1.0.0 requires any version of architectury, which is missing!

How to Fix

1

Download Architectury API from Modrinth or CurseForge and pick the file for your loader and your exact Minecraft version.

2

Put the jar in the same mods folder as the mod that needs it, then restart the game or server completely.

3

Under A potential solution has been determined, Fabric Loader lists what to add, for example Install architectury, any version. That line gives the version range you need.

4

For NoSuchMethodError or NoClassDefFoundError under dev.architectury, update the mod and Architectury to versions made for the same Minecraft version.

5

Keep one Architectury jar and delete older copies.

6

Install it on the server too when a mod on the server needs it. Modrinth marks Architectury as required on both client and server.

Common Causes

  • Architectury isn't installed. Fabric Loader stops with Incompatible mods found! and names the mod that requires architectury, which is missing. NeoForge says the mod requires architectury and that architectury is not installed.
  • The Architectury file is for another loader or Minecraft version. For 26.2 it is built for Fabric and NeoForge, with files such as 21.1.9+fabric and 21.1.9+neoforge.
  • The mod needs a newer Architectury than the one installed. Fabric Loader then reports that the mod requires a certain version of architectury, but only the wrong version is present.
  • The mod was built for a different Architectury version and calls something that isn't there. The crash report then shows java.lang.NoSuchMethodError or NoClassDefFoundError with a class name under dev.architectury.

Diagnostic Steps

  1. Read the error screen or latest.log for the architectury line.
  2. Note which mod needs Architectury and which version it asks for.
  3. Download the matching Architectury file for your loader and Minecraft version.
  4. Remove old Architectury jars.
  5. Restart and check the log again.
