How to Fix Litematica / Schematic Errors
Litematica needs a matching MaLiLib build and reads .litematic, .schem, .schematic and .nbt files. What its load errors mean and how to fix them.

Download Litematica and MaLiLib for the same Minecraft version, and use the MaLiLib range that Fabric Loader names in its error.
Put schematic files in the schematics folder inside your .minecraft folder, which Litematica uses as its base folder.
Keep the original file extension. Litematica picks the reader by extension, so a renamed file won't load.
Load schematics from a newer Minecraft version in that version instead of an older game.
Give Minecraft more memory if large schematics fail with Out of Memory.
Common Causes
- MaLiLib is missing or has the wrong version. Fabric Loader then stops with a message that Litematica requires a version of malilib, which is missing, or that only the wrong version is present.
- The file can't be found or opened. Litematica reports Can't read the schematic file, with the file name.
- The file type isn't supported. Litematica reads .litematic, .schematic, .schem and .nbt files and reports Unknown or unsupported file type for anything else.
- The schematic comes from a newer Minecraft version. Litematica warns Schematic is from a future version of Minecraft and that some NBT data may be at risk of corruption.
- The schematic has no version information. Litematica refuses it because it can't be safely loaded.
- The file is too big for the memory Minecraft has. Litematica then reports Out of Memory while reading the schematic.
Diagnostic Steps
- Read the error in chat or in latest.log.
- Match the Litematica and MaLiLib versions.
- Check the file name, extension and folder.
- Load the schematic again.
